BRAVO's Work of Art: The Next Great Artist Highlights Value of Arts EducationBRAVO's Work of Art: The Next Great Artist Highlights Value of Arts Education

Arts education was one of the highlights of an episode that aired on November 2 on Work of Art: The Next Great Artist. President’s Committee member Sarah Jessica Parker is the executive producer of this hit BRAVO show, which features contestants who compete for a gallery exhibition, a cash prize and a sponsored national tour. The artists create works in the fields of sculpture, painting and photography, and this week’s challenge was to create works that complemented that of young artists.  The episode also underscored many of the points made in the President’s Committee’s recent report  Reinvesting in Arts Education: Winning America’s Future Through Creative Schools, which documents arts and humanities education’s concrete effects on higher test scores, lower dropout rates and success in other subjects like math and science. Proceeds from the sale of the work created on this episode will go to the Studio in a School, an arts education organization in New York that PCAH committee member Chuck Close is also involved in, and which was also featured in the PCAH arts education report. The episode is available on On Demand.
